Joint Concert with St Paul’s Girls’ School

On Thursday 15 September, St Paul’s School (SPS) musicians teamed up with their counterparts at St Paul’s Girls’ School (SPGS) to deliver the annual Joint Concert.

This is a well-established collaboration between the two schools and a real musical highlight of the year. Hosted in a packed SPGS Great Hall, a joint choir and chamber orchestra sang Schubert’s Mass in G (soloists: Charlie Kenny, Teddy Onslow, Cameron Nelson – all Upper Eighth) under the baton of SPS Director of Music Mark Wilderspin.

After a brief scene change, the joint symphony orchestra played Saint-Säens’s Symphony No.3 in C, often nicknamed “Organ” due to its prominent organ part. The symphony was conducted by SPGS Director of Music Leigh O’Hara and the performance really showed what is possible with these talented young musicians in just two weeks of intense rehearsal!
