On Wednesday 29 January, a joint society trip was run to see the hit musical in the West End, Hamilton.
Members of the Afro-Caribbean Society, Equality Society, and Senior History Society enjoyed the trip.
We then had a follow-up, joint society session: “Reflections from watching Hamilton: what can we learn from the musical about race, gender and class at the time of the American Revolution?”. Led by leaders from all three societies, this involved discussion in small groups on critical questions of race, slavery, gender, the nature of historical memory and aspects of contemporary resonance.
