A team of pupils from St Paul’s and St Paul’s Juniors travelled to Westminster School to take part in the annual London Latin and Greek Reading Competition.
In the Beginners’ Latin, Eisa, Sam and Philip (Upper Second) gave a spirited and dramatic performance and in the Beginners’ Greek, Maxcel (Fourth Form) recited a Greek poem about Cupid being stung by a bee, winning him a silver medal.
In the Pre-GCSE Latin – Max (Sixth Form) gave an exciting performance of a section of Virgil’s Aeneid and received an honourable mention for the energy he brought.
Sixth Formers Fred and Daniel went up against Eighth Form pupils in the Greek Dialogue section, giving a highly commendable performance.
In the Open Latin, Altan (Lower Eighth) delivered an exceptionally moving performance and was awarded a silver medal.
Greek Chorus – the pièce de résistance. Pupils from the Fifth and Upper Eighth Forms combined to give a superb performance against an inspired Westminster line-up. The weeks of hard work and dedication paid off and they were awarded Gold medals – congratulations to Shrey, Adavya, Tolga, Charlie, Anango, Veer, Mani, Alex, Luke and Thomas (chorus leader).
