The St Paul’s Athletics Club came in third place overall in the prestigious ‘Lord Burghley Athletics Trophy’ on Saturday. The Seniors finishing in third, Inters second and the Juniors third within their age groups.
There was a superb team effort with some outstanding individual performances, a host of new PBs and a new school record of 22.09s by the team captain James Grindle (Upper Eighth) in the Senior 200m. Special mentions must go to Joseph Schull (Upper Eighth), who single-handedly scored 45 points for the senior team by competing in the 110m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus and javelin and to Cameron McConnon (Fourth Form), who was victorious in both the 800m and 1500m in the Junior age group!

Junior Boys: Kyle Hunt, Cameron McConnon, Manny Dell, Benjy Street.
Intermediate Boys: Alexander Pama, Thomas Darke, Sol Inglis, Andreas Hadjiloizou, Max Bishop.
Senior Boys: James Grindle, Tom White, Seon Shaw, Greg Zoppos, Thomas Magalhaes.
Finally, Max Bishop (Fifth Form), Sol Inglis (Fifth Form) and Cameron McConnon (Fourth Form) all ran for the Thames Valley Harriers Club at the White City Athletics Stadium last week. Max ran the fastest 800m in the country so far this year in a new record of 1:57.2s, which has stood since 1969 for his year group. Cameron McConnon also impressed with a stunning 1500m time of 4:32.60 and Sol Inglis ran a superb time of 38.42 in the 300m.
