Huge congratulations to Lower Eighth student, Elias, who recently won third prize in the Biomedical Engineering category at Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) the world’s largest science fair where close to 2,000 young scientists represented their countries.
Elias was selected by the jury of the National Jonk Fuerscher Contest in Luxembourg to qualify for the ISEF, and was sent to the ISEF as a laureate of the contest organised by the FJSL. Elias’ project representing St Paul’s School and Luxembourg: ‘Device for Analysing Coughing Patterns to Diagnose and Monitor Asthmatic Patients’ was showcased to and reviewed by a jury of university professors and scientists in the US. Elias had to create a device that analyses coughing patterns using machine learning algorithms to diagnose asthmatic patients.
