James (Upper Eighth) was selected to represent London & South East Division (LSE) rugby based on his previous performances for Middlesex in their wins against Essex and Hertfordshire in January.
LSE is one of the 4 English divisional sides, selecting players from nine counties across the South and East of England to form a 23-player LSE squad. This squad competes with similar sides representing the North, the Midlands, and the South West. LSE secured a decisive win against the South West (38-12) in the teeth of the gales on the 19 February to progress to the final round and then, on Sunday 27 February, took the title against the Midlands (44-27).
In previous years, there have been opportunities to progress further to an England Counties side that plays an international side from one of the other 6 Nations; however, due to the pandemic, this will not be the case this year, so this was an excellent finale for James as an U18 in the 15-a-side game
