Following on from the first round of the British Mathematical Olympiad, four Paulines have been invited to join an international training camp in Hungary over the new year.
Michael Sydorenko (Fifth Form), Adavya Goyal (Sixth Form), Eason Shao (Lower Eighth) and Haolin Zhao (Upper Eighth) have all received invitations to the one-week camp run by the UKMT which consists of intensive daily training sessions alongside the Hungarian IMO team. Offers to attend are reserved for those finishing in the top 20 nationally in BMO1 so having four pupils invited is a noteworthy achievement.
The second round of the British Mathematical Olympiad takes place on 24 January, after which another training camp is held at Trinity College, Cambridge before a team of six is chosen to represent the UK at the International Mathematical Olympiad. This year’s IMO is being hosted by the United Kingdom in Bath from 11 – 22 July.
