Middlesex Schools Cross Country Success

On Tuesday 10 February, pupils from St Paul’s travelled to Harrow for the Middlesex Schools Cross Country Championships. This event brings together the fastest runners who have qualified from nine London boroughs, all competing for a place at the National Cross Country Intercounties Finals in Liverpool this March.

Following their strong performances at the Richmond Schools competition in December, five of our runners earned the opportunity to compete at this higher level. Three are now set to represent Middlesex at the national finals.

Surya (Upper Third) of the Prep School delivered an outstanding run in the Junior Boys race, finishing 7th. The top six runners automatically qualify, and Surya is highly likely to secure one of the remaining two Middlesex team places. In the Inter Boys race, Charlie (Fifth Form) claimed an impressive 3rd place. Remarkably, Charlie finished the race well despite the interference of a spectator’s dog slowing him down. Leau (Sixth Form) also ran superbly to secure 5th place in his race.

Cyrus (Fifth Form), finishing 19th, and Alfred (Sixth Form), finishing 27th, both placed comfortably in the top half of a very competitive field, rounding off an excellent overall team performance.

This was a fantastic result in the first fixture of the term, and we look forward to supporting our runners as they prepare for the national stage.
