On Monday evening (29 January), the Modern Languages department welcomed GCSE and A Level linguists for a multilingual cinema night after school. After a hot supper in the modern languages corridor, pupils could enjoy one of four recent releases in French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Here are some comments from our Upper Eighth linguists about the films.
Aidan (Upper Eighth): ‘Als wir träumten (As We Were Dreaming) detailed the lives of five youths entering their prime just as Germany reunified after the fall of the Berlin Wall. I found the visual effects and techno music very striking, especially contrasted with the more tender moments towards the end of the film.’
