At the beginning of June, pupils from the Fourth and Fifth Forms enjoyed a weekend of mountain biking at the UK’s best trail centre, Coed-y-Brenin in North Wales.
Looked after by our excellent guide, they worked on bike riding skills and progressed fast, eventually descending red trails in good style. The weather threw us some challenges – baking hot and then drenching thunderstorms – but the pupils handled the changing conditions admirably. There were only a few tumbles and some grazed knees. The biggest casualty was, in fact, the school minibus that broke down on the way home on Sunday evening, necessitating a quick change of plan and a transfer to the railway. We all arrived home safe, sound and tired, though exhilarated by the landscape of North Wales and the excitement of mountain biking.
