Art – Upper First Tipi Project

The Upper First boys have been looking at Native American art and the famous speech by Chief Seattle in the mid-1800s that foretold the current environmental crisis.

The boys first did realistic studies of animals and analysed the style of art from various tribes – before adapting their chosen animal into their own original designs. In groups they have worked over a stretch of canvas and at this point they have been using black liquid acrylic to illuminate a variety of lines and marks.

The next step for the boys is to tie their canvas onto a stretcher, that will finally come together to form a 3-D tipi.
