Geography and Classics trip to the Bay of Naples

On 29 May, we took a group of 40 Upper Second and Lower Third boys on a joint Geography/Classics trip to explore the delights of the Bay of Naples.

Noah and Sehwan (L3H) give us a flavour of what the trip was like and what they enjoyed the most:

Noah’s report

The Sorrento trip was the best I have been on yet, and I have many anecdotes and happy memories for years to come. The hotel was superb, with great food and many activities – these included swimming, football and table tennis in the sunshine. However, it was the daily activities that really made the trip stand out for me. To start with, there was a diverse selection, with a great variety from climbing Mount Vesuvius to a tour of an ancient Roman Amphitheatre! My favourite of these trips, however, was to Pompeii. Our tour guide was excellent, informing us all on details of an intriguing and extremely special historical site, while also maintaining a thoroughly friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Sehwan’s report

Without doubt the Sorrento trip was the most enjoyable and amazing school trip I have ever been on, with many wonderful memories made under the sweltering sun. For me, the time we spent on Capri was my personal favourite day of the trip. Our hike up was challenging, but it was worth it. The views were absolutely breath-taking and I felt stunned and mesmerised by the pristine aquamarine sea. After this, we went back down and explored the local area, getting to buy gelato, lemon flavoured confectioneries and plenty of souvenirs. We even stopped at a shop to get a pizza. It was ‘delizioso’! Finally, we stopped off at the beach, and got some rest, relaxing on the ground before heading back to the mainland. Overall, the day was simply magnificent.
