Pauline rowers make their mark

After trials in the Easter holiday, David Ambler, Freddie Davidson, Alfred Jacquemot (Year 12, Lower Eighth) and Marco Hughes (Year 13, Upper Eighth) have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Munich International Regattathis month.

In other notable rowing news, three of our pairs made the top 12 in the recent GB pairs trial at Nottingham: David Ambler and Freddie Davidson; Marco Hughes and Alfred Jacquemot; Seb Benzecry and Bertie Woodward-Fisher (both Lower Eighth). The A final was won by David and Freddie. Marco and Alfred were 6th in the A final and Seb and Bertie 5th in the B.

The BASHER regatta, created in 2003 by Bedford, Abingdon, St Paul’s, Hampton, Eton and Radley, saw the rest of the Boat Club racing at Dorney:

  • J16A raced exceptionally well to finish 5th overall and were the second fastest J16 boat present.
  • The J15As had the performance of the day, finishing the fastest J15 VIII and in the 12 fastest crews across all age groups. They finished 3rd in the B final, ahead of a number of other schools’ J16As and 2nd VIIIs.
  • The J15B boat was the second fastest in both time trial and overall.
  • Three J14 octos took part, taking second and third fastest positions in the octuples and beating a significant number of other boats from older year groups.
