Paulines make final selection rounds within UK Computing & Mathematics Olympiads

During the Easter holidays two Upper Eighth Paulines, Joe Benton and Hugo Aaronson, attended the final selection rounds of the Olympiad competitions in both Mathematics and Computing.

This stage of these competitions are intended to determine which of the best 15 – 20 teenagers in the country are going to represent the UK in the International Olympiads held in the summer.  These competitions are recognised as being the highest level of achievement for school pupils in their subject.

In Computing Joe was one of the best four contestants and has been selected for the UK team (for the third consecutive year) whilst Hugo performed creditably.  In Mathematics Joe is amongst the best nine and a strong candidate for the Olympiad team of six (for the fourth year running) whilst Hugo has been selected to represent the UK in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad which places him in the top 12 mathematicians in the country.

Congratulations to both boys for a superb achievement.
