Over the summer, Upper Eighth pupils Adrian and Aryaman represented England at the World Schools Debating Championships in Panama. The competition brought together more than 65 national teams, making it one of the most prestigious events in the debating calendar.
The pair performed strongly in the preliminary rounds, securing six wins out of eight debates, including notable victories over Hong Kong and Singapore. Their success earned them a 6th place seeding going into the knockout stage.
In the Round of 16 they faced Bangladesh in a closely contested debate, where they were narrowly defeated. Reaching the last 16 of the competition was a significant achievement and their performance was an excellent reflection of their hard work and preparation throughout the year. They have been fantastic ambassadors for St Paul’s and we look forward to what they may achieve in their final year of schools debating.
