St Paul’s School will compete in the Rootham Shield Final later this month – the first time in almost two decades.
St Paul’s entertained KCS Wimbledon in the Semi Final of the LTA event, the Rootham Shield. This competition consists of four singles and two doubles matches with a deciding “shoot-out” if the score finishes at 3-3. A solid hold from Perper and a great come back from Renwick left the scores tied at 2-2 after the singles. A strong doubles match from Perper and Renwick set the match up for St Paul’s to take and it took Mayo and Hughes a deciding Championship tie break to fend off the extremely talented KCS first pair to take the tie 4-2. It is St Paul’s first Rootham Shield final since 1999. The final will be played against Reeds on 24 June at St George’s, Weybridge.
