Paulines Win Medals and Surpass Personal Records at SEAA Combined Events Championships

Over the weekend, Pauline athletes Philip Kastner and Gregory Zoppos competed in the South of England Combined Events Championships held at the Horspath Stadium in Oxford.

Both boys had considerable success, with Kastner taking the silver medal in the U17 men’s Octathlon event with a personal best score of 4043 points and Zoppos taking bronze in the U15 boys’ Pentathlon, also with a new personal best of 2515 points.

Kastner had five individual event PB’s over the weekend: they were a leap of 6.19m in the long jump (=PB); a 39.95m throw in the javelin; 56.98sec for the 400m; a 29.25m throw in the discus, and a run of 5min 34sec in the 1500m.

Zoppos was also breaking into new territory with three new personal bests: a run of 12.80sec in the 80m hurdles, taking half a second off his previous best; a jump of 1.56m (=PB) in the high jump; and a run of 2min 12.81sec in the 800m.
