Pupils organise charity concert in aid of the DEC Turkish/Syrian Earthquake Appeal

Music Scholars Altan (Lower Eighth) and Tolga (Fifth Form), organised a charity choir and organ recital in aid of the DEC Turkish/Syrian Earthquake Appeal. The concert was held at St Michael & All Angels Church, Barnes on Sunday 26 February.

The recital included a selection of organ and chamber music, including some Anatolian folk songs which Altan has transcribed for string quintet. Altan and Tolga worked with fellow attendees of the Royal College of Music Saturday Junior Programme to produce the programme. They organised all aspects of the event over the Remedy. Philip Berg (former Director of Music at SPJ and former SPS Organist) also performed in the concert.

Entry to the concert was free and there was a retiring collection in aid of the Disasters and Emergencies Committee Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal. An outstanding £10,700 was raised from online and offline donations, including Gift Aid, for this incredibly important cause. You can still give online via this link.
