Seven SPS crews raced at Marlow Regatta, the final domestic regatta of the year except for Henley, on Saturday.
The 1st VIII defended their title, from the Metropolitan Regatta two weeks ago, of fastest school. They were pushed hard, ultimately beating Shiplake by making up a length and rowing through them in the last 500 m to win by 0.3s. This result will whet appetites for some very close racing at Henley Royal Regatta, which will start on Tuesday 27 June.
Elsewhere, there was a win for the J16 coxed four of Theo Hiorns, Christian Reese, Christoph Hueffer, Milon Kalia and Victor Bocquet, with a second J16 coxed four finishing fourth place in the event. The J14As managed 3rd place, as did the 2nd VIII and J15Bs. The J15A crew, who last week overturned Radley at Reading Regatta to avenge the defeat at National Schools’, found themselves once again in 2nd place just behind their familiar rivals.
