On Sunday 29 January, 72 Paulines took to the water to race the opening Tideway head of the season: Quintin Head.
A dominant performance from the club followed. The 1st VIII beat all other school crews and finished 6th overall, being beaten only by university and high performance club crews. The 2nd VIII finished as the second-fastest 2nd VIII; the J16 mixed eights finished second and third in their age category. The three J15 mixed eights produced the standout result of the day though, finishing first, second and third – only King’s College School managed to produce a crew that could compete with the top three crews from SPS in this age bracket.
The next major club outing will be at Hammersmith Head on Sunday 26 February, followed by the Schools’ Head on Friday 17 March.
