Rowing Update

During the Easter break, 44 members of the Boat Club, and their coaches, travelled to Portugal for the first training camp and the first overseas trip for the school since 2019. The J16 (Sixth Form) and senior (Eighth Form) squads covered the best part of 1,000 km on the rowing lake during the week, with all crews making significant advances in speed and technical ability thanks to the still water conditions. Pupils combined two rowing sessions with two academic work sessions each day during the trip, readying themselves for a successful regatta and exam season.

The J14s (Fourth Form), who have been rowing only since January, also enjoyed a sculling camp in Peterborough at the start of the holiday. They were able to use the glorious weather to get up to speed in – and to sometimes fall out of – small sculling boats for the first time. The J15s (Fifth Form) were also busy back in the UK, compiling their own training programme from trips to Dorney Lake and the Molesey stretch.
