On Friday 17 March, 72 Paulines raced in the Schools’ Head of the River race, bringing home 36 medals – more than any other club.
This tally included wins for the J16A, J15A and J15B crews. For the J16As, this was a successful defence of the title they won last year.
The three senior crews – 1st VIII, 2nd VIII and 3rd VIII – each finished third in their categories.
The J15 squad had shown great promise at Quintin Head earlier this term by finishing 1st, 3rd and 4th in the J15 category; the Schools’ Head bore out that promise as each of the A, B and C crews were the fastest of their type on the water.
The club as a whole was pipped to the Thames Trophy (for the aggregate time of a club’s three fastest boats) by Radley who were 0.8 seconds quicker. All these pupils now have a couple of weeks to rest before heading to training camps over the Easter break to prepare for the sprint racing season.
