Silver medal at the 2015 International Mathematical Olympiads

Joe Benton from Year 12 added to his collection of medals winning another silver medal in this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad, which was held over the summer in Chiang Mai in Thailand.

Joe was one of six representing the UK for this most prestigious of school-age mathematics competition, an annual event which includes the best pre-university mathematicians from 104 countries worldwide, including the USA, China, Russia, Hungary and Japan. On an even harder set of questions than usual Joe scored well finishing up joint second in the UK team, despite many fellow competitors being up to two years older than him.

The problems from the day can be viewed on: http://www.bmoc.maths.org/home/imo-2015.pdf

St Paul’s have had a member of the UK team for each of the last five years and since 2000 have had more team members than any two other schools combined.
