Skiing in Japan

After two flights, a long drive and a nine-hour time difference, the trip finally arrived in Hokkaido. At Niseko ski resort the group soon got stuck into the fresh, champagne powder for which Japan is famous.

Over the next six days the boys toured, jumped, sped, sleighed and slashed the previously untouched, deep, light snow. Darting through the trees in abandoned ski resorts, they glided along the ridgelines of mountains and visited the spectacular volcanic hot springs in the backcountry. Japan was a snow machine that did not turn off, delivering 70cm in one night, and the skiing was unrivalled. At the end of each day tired legs were comforted and refreshed with a warm bowl of teppanyaki or udon in the town. The ski trip to Japan did not disappoint.
