Athletics

1500m success – Wednesday 28 May

There were some fine displays of 1500m running by SPS athletes over the Remedy. Cyrus Sheikh (Fourth Form) and Leau Roch (Fifth Form) improved their PBs to 4min 29sec and 4min 12sec, respectively, in Wimbledon while in Watford Charlie Nicolson (Fourth Form) improved the school U15 record with a time of 4min 15.00 sec, breaking the previous record of 4:17.3 that was set by C.J. Mayhew in 1974! Huge congratulations to all of them.

English Schools’ Track and Field Cup

The SPS team of 14 athletes from the Fourth and Fifth Forms have qualified for the regional finals of the Track and Field Cup, which will take place in Watford on Monday 16 June. The school teams will be vying to qualify for the national finals on 5 July.

Combined Events

Congratulations go to the following athletes who have been selected to represent Middlesex at the south-east regional combined events championships on 28/29 June.

Leo Popov (Fourth Form) – Junior Boys’ Pentathlon

Zac Lam and Andrey Serebryakov (both Fifth Form) – Intermediate Boys’ Octathlon

Henry Whittaker (Lower Eighth) – Senior Boys’ Decathlon

Cricket

The only match in the week before Remedy saw the U15Bs beat Harrodian School U15s by 72 runs. This weekend will see a block fixture against Hampton School, with the 1st XI playing at home. We wish the teams all the best.
