The current Sports Pavilion is a 40 year old small timber construction with inadequate facilities for sports teams or indeed hosting the all-important match teas! Plans were drawn up for a new larger building with terraces allowing views over the playing fields, new changing rooms for both ‘away’ and ‘home’ sides and a large public reception room.
The new Sports Pavilion is also designed to provide a perfect venue for many of St Paul’s outreach and access initiatives. The school currently works with Richmond Borough Youth Services to run holiday programmes for boys and girls from the surrounding area, offering a range of sports and life skills activities.
The school committed to part-fund the project and with £420,000 donated from a number of generous parents, the total target build amount of £1.125m has now been reached.
The new Sports Pavilion is due to be completed in the summer of 2019. It is hoped it will create a strong sense of community for all those who come to St Paul’s Juniors to participate in or watch the various matches taking place, providing a ‘social hub’ for parents, pupils and visitors.
Thank you to all of you who supported this successful appeal.
