St Paul’s becomes National Schools U16 Rackets Doubles Champions

After winning the National Schools U-16 Rackets Singles Championships last December, Isaac teamed up with Darshan  to give St Paul’s their third National Schools U16 Doubles title in five years.

In an absorbing four game final against Winchester College, second seeds Isaac and Darshan kept their composure in a battle with a feisty Wykehamist pair, winning 10/15, 17/15, 15/2, 15/13.

As National Singles Champion, Isaac led the charge as first string magnificently; he has improved immeasurably in that area of maturely dictating points and stamping his authority on the game. However, it was Darshan who rose to the occasion remarkably. His serving was outstanding, scoring as many points as Isaac, but his vision and awareness of the game, especially with knowing what Isaac requires from him during a point, is extraordinary. This is a very difficult skill and role to undertake but their combination together was magnificent. Well done and congratulations to both Isaac and Darshan.
