On 21 November, David Emery delivered a second school minibus and surplus first aid supplies to British-Ukrainian Aid.
David is best known to pupils as an Electronics teacher and technician, but for over 20 years, he has also managed and maintained all the school vehicles.
He says:
“We’ve owned these minibuses since 2008, and they’ve undertaken thousands of journeys efficiently and reliably for sports fixtures, rowing, outdoor pursuits, DofE, Firefly, Partnerships, and so on. However, due to their age, they were not ULEZ compliant. Although mechanically sound, they were also, like me, starting to show signs of their age! Transport for London offered a quite generous grant to replace them. Initially, vehicles had to be scrapped and destroyed to receive the grant, which was very wasteful for a perfectly sound vehicle. However, earlier this year, TfL introduced the option of donating vehicles to British-Ukrainian Aid. Our two minibuses will help provide essential transport for civilians and troops in the Ukrainian conflict.” Find out more.
