Seven young actors from the Third Years absolutely wowed the audience this week at the SPS Monologues Competition.

After a preliminary round of auditions, our finalists were given some time to rehearse and work on their pieces with SPJs Drama & English departments (with a particular thank you to the expert tuition from Ms Bower!) before taking to the stage on Thursday night.

The results were stunning. Spanning a vast range of genres and centuries we had Enyu performing as Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Leo with a piece from The Glass Menagerie; Liam with The Matrix; Saadyhan with Resident Ghost; Felix and The Great Dictator; Jacob and Hamlet and Daniel with a piece from Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror.

The self-selected monologues were all excellent, bold choices, resulting in a fantastic night of quality theatre. Well done and thank you to all who participated, and a huge congratulations to Liam who won for the Juniors with his speech from The Matrix.
