The Juniors and Seniors collaborated to mark the end of LGBT History month this week in the form of two seminars.
Wednesday’s was open to the Third Years, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Form and Thursday’s to the Eighth Form.
Topics discussed included why LGBT History month is marked, the diversity of LGBT representation in UK politics, how LGBT issues are portrayed in the popular media, and the prevalence of mental health conditions in the LGBT community and the steps we, as a school, can take to create an inclusive ethos that values everyone equally.
It was wonderful to hear such interesting perspectives on the above from staff and pupils alike. Huge thanks to Mr Watts (Head of History, SPS), Mr Edwards (Head of Politics, SPS), Mr Anthony (Head of Drama, SPS) and Mr Matthews (Pastoral Deputy Head, SPJ) for organising.
