St Paul’s School Group Welcomes Arnold House School

The St Paul’s School Group is pleased to announce that Arnold House School, St John’s Wood, will become the newest member of the Group from November 2026.

Arnold House joins founding members Durston House, Ealing and Shrewsbury House School Trust, Surbiton, in a family of leading, not-for-profit preparatory schools united by a shared commitment to educational excellence. The addition of Arnold House, one of north London’s leading prep schools, further strengthens the Group’s position at the forefront of boys’ education.

Arnold House will retain its own leadership, identity, name, ethos, culture and uniform. Its Head, Giles Tollit, will continue to lead the school, and the school will continue to prepare its boys for a broad range of senior schools in London and beyond.

As part of the Group, Arnold House boys will benefit from the St Paul’s Programme, a holistic enrichment offering spanning academic and life skills, leadership, wellbeing initiatives and Group-wide competitions. The St Paul’s School Stewarded Pathway will also provide a supported route to St Paul’s School for boys within the Group, including early identification and enrichment support, the potential for pre-Year 6 offers, direct access to St Paul’s academic staff and the possibility of continuation scholarships and bursaries.

The St Paul’s School Research Centre for the Education of Boys, launched alongside the Group in 2025, has made significant progress in its first year. A Director, Deputy Director and Postdoctoral Fellow have been appointed, and teaching staff across the Group are now conducting action research in collaboration with schools, universities, charities and research centres. The Centre’s work aims to improve educational outcomes for boys across the country and contribute to the wider national and international conversation around the education of boys.

Sally-Anne Huang, High Master, St Paul’s School: “I am absolutely delighted that Arnold House is joining the Group. It is a school of real distinction, with a culture of ambition and community that fits naturally alongside our own. Each Group school, including Arnold House will continue to prepare their pupils for a wide range of senior schools, and we fully support those individual choices.”

Giles Tollit, Head, Arnold House School: “This is a hugely exciting moment for Arnold House and one that will bring real benefits to our boys, staff and wider school community. We are immensely proud of our distinctive character and our commitment to an outstanding all-boys education, including the opportunity our 13+ provision gives boys to grow in confidence, maturity and independence. Joining the St Paul’s School Group will allow us to build on these strengths, working alongside schools with whom we share a strong sense of purpose and ambition for the future, while remaining firmly rooted in the ethos and values that have shaped Arnold House for more than 120 years.”
