BASKETBALL
West London Partnership Final Fours, 24 April
St Paul’s enjoyed a memorable day at the West London Partnership Final Fours on 24 April, with both the U16 and U18 basketball teams securing victories.
The U16 side produced a dominant performance in the semi-final, defeating Holland Park 63 to 30. This set up a final against Latymer Upper, where the team showed composure and determination to overturn last year’s disappointment, winning 48 to 41 and claiming the trophy.
The U18 team faced a tougher route to the final. Trailing by 10 points in the third quarter against Holland Park, they responded with an outstanding fourth quarter to secure a 49 to 41 victory. In the final against Latymer Upper, they delivered a controlled and consistent display to win 75 to 47 and secure back to back WLP titles.
CRICKET
SPS v Brighton College, 25 April
It was an even split in the block fixture against Brighton, with four wins and four losses across the teams.
The 1st XI were below their best and lost to a strong Brighton side, but the 2nd and 3rd XI both recorded emphatic victories. For the 2nd XI, Bansal and Burch each made half centuries, while Baijal and Simha took three wickets apiece. The 3rd XI produced an outstanding display in the field, bowling Brighton out for just 34, with New taking four wickets and Gani and Malhotra three each.
All three U15 sides were defeated, with the U15As narrowly missing out by just four runs. O’Flaherty (41 not out) and Burman (32) impressed with the bat, while Johnson and Metcalf both claimed three wickets.
There was greater success at U14 level, where both the U14As and U14Bs secured wins. Rathi took four wickets for the U14As, while Dormandy delivered an excellent all round performance for the U14Bs.
RACKETS
National Schools’ Doubles Championships, Easter
St Paul’s enjoyed outstanding success at the National Schools’ Doubles Championships over the Easter break, emerging as triple champions in a highly competitive field.
With representation across all age groups, the tournament provided a demanding test throughout. The 1st pair delivered an impressive performance, combining powerful serving with confident net play to overcome strong opposition from Radley and secure the title.
There was further success at U16 and U15 level, where both pairs produced composed and determined displays to claim their respective championships against tough competition.
Overall, the pupils are congratulated on what was a highly successful event for St Paul’s.
