Noah Zhou wins Coach House Piano Competition
Upper Eighth pianist, Noah Zhou recently won the Coach House Piano Competition for schools. Noah competed against other pupils from 27 schools in the first round of the competition. Pianists were asked to submit a filmed performance that included a first movement of a classical period sonata and a short piece of their own choosing.
On Sunday 12 May 2019, Noah, along with five competitors, attended the final at Queen Anne's School in Caversham. Finalists were all given a masterclass by a member of the final jury in the morning and then asked to perform a 30-minute recital in the afternoon. Noah performed a diverse programme including works by Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Bach and Skoryk. Noah took first place and was awarded £300 (kindly sponsored by Axis Lease Management) and won a new Yamaha upright piano for St Paul's School.
