STEM Partnerships Easter Revision School

Over the Easter break, teachers from St Paul’s School partnered with Christ’s School teachers to deliver three days of revision for GCSE and A Level students from local partnership school pupils. Students from Christ’s School and Fulham Boys Schools were treated to a comprehensive revision of their Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses to support them in catching up on lost time due to missed learning opportunities over the pandemic lockdowns.

Feedback from St Paul’s was overwhelmingly positive. Impact analysis showed that students felt a lot more confident and prepared for their upcoming summer exams. This is the second of four schools in the project, which is funded by the Worshipful Company of Mercers and led by our Assistant Director of Partnerships, Janet Mee. The next school in this series will be over the summer, with the final school ending in Easter 2023.

We would like to thank all of the academic staff involved (Ian McDonnell, Kate French, Camille Shammas, Tom Orr, Joe Swartzentruber) and the partnerships team (Janet Mee, Sam Roberts, Meena Ridge and Ben Still) for all their hard work planning and delivering the sessions. Also many thanks to the support staff who made the school possible, in particular Jason Carter and the team of science technicians (Andres Tretiakov, Jamie Clarke, Richard Arjune, Jun Zhang, Azelia Nzinga and Kate Williams) as their practical preparation and demos brought the subjects to life.

We are currently accepting applications for our residential Materials Science and Particle Physics Summer Schools, which will be hosted July 11 – 15. Our Lower Eighth pupils will be volunteering to mentor at the schools, welcoming over 60 students from maintained schools from across the UK.
