In both the Guy Butler Shield, held at Harrow, and the Medley Relays at Radley, Pauline athletes broke records, qualified for English Schools’ and won four medals.
In the Guy Butler Shield, the intermediate squad were joint winners in the U17 competition. Oladotun Saliu (Year 11, Sixth form) broke the event’s triple jump record of 13.27m, jumping 13.81m. He followed this with a personal best in the high jump of 191cms, breaking the school’s record of 183cms. Both jumps are national standard.
Paul Calderon (Sixth form) won the U17s’ 400m event in 51.90s, just 0.80s off the event’s record and 0.60s away from beating the school’s record. Paul’s recorded time is good enough to qualify for English Schools’.
In the Medley Relays, the junior relay team won gold in the 4x100m relay and bronze in the Medley relay itself, with times of 48.7s and 4.13.20, respectively. The intermediate relay team won bronze in the 4x100m and silver in the Medley relay, with times of 46.4s and 3:55.40.
