Success at the London and South East Young Enterprise Finals

Yesterday, Canopy, a Young Enterprise company making 3D-printed self-watering plant pots, led by Ronit (Lower Eighth), won Best Overall Company at the Young Enterprise London Finals at Amazon HQ.

Canopy, who have sold over 120 pots and also won the Digital Presence award with over 38,000 views on their social media accounts, will now go on to represent London and St Paul’s at the National Finals in Manchester on 4 June. This is the first St Paul’s team to reach the national finals since 2018.

This superb achievement was accompanied by the joint St Paul’s School (SPS)/St Paul’s Girls’ School (SPGS) team, Grounded, who make journals with plantable pages, winning the Best Marketing Award. This was a first for any joint team, with dual CEOs Lara and Alex exemplifying the success of this inter-school collaboration.

About Canopy

Canopy produces an originally designed, self-watering plant pot with an inbuilt mechanical water indicator. The team is led by MD, Ronit and comprised of Lower Eighth Paulines. The team has generated over an amazing £3,000 in sales with 120 pots sold, leading to a net profit of £2030.94. The pot is biodegradable itself, and a prototype is currently in the works for an algae-based model which, coupled with a contribution of 10% of all profits to the Cultivate London charity, make it even more sustainable, both socially and environmentally.

About Grounded

Grounded is a joint team made up of pupils from St Paul’s and St Paul’s Girls’ school. They  have worked together to develop the Growth Journal, a journal with compostable pages embedded with wildflower seeds that allows you to write down your thoughts and feelings before planting them.

They also reached the London finals, which is a first for a joint SPS/SPGS team. They won the Best Marketing Award at the London finals, a huge testament to their logo and brand design skills, as well as their presentation.

Grounded represent the growing success of the entrepreneurial collaboration between SPS and SPGS.
