We bring news of pupil success in both The British Mathematics Olympiad and British Physics Olympiad. Congratulations to all of the pupils that participated and to those who have made it through to the next stage.
British Physics Olympiad
In the British Physics Olympiad Round 1 competition, St Paul’s, scored 8 Golds, 11 Silvers, 28 Bronze and 15 Commendations. Of the 8 Golds, Upper Eighth students, Eduard Hueffer, Jasper Johnston, Minsuk Lee and Ayham Alkhader were awarded a ‘Top Gold’ and will be invited to Round 2 of the Olympiad later this year.
British Mathematics Olympiad
In November, 57 pupils took part in the British Mathematics Olympiad, 35 of them have qualified for the competition through their scores in the Senior Mathematics Challenge.
Their efforts were judged by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) over the Christmas holidays and students achieved 14 Distinctions and 22 Merits, with Minsuk Lee (Upper Eighth), Johnny Cubbon (Lower Eighth), Ali Imam-Sadeque (Lower Eighth), and Neil Prabhu (Fifth Form) all achieving a high enough score to qualify for BMO2.
