Success in the Achilles Relays

The St Paul’s Athletics Club had a very successful day at the prestigious Achilles Relays, held at the Roger Bannister Stadium at Oxford University.

Out of the four events entered, the squad won two of them and came runners-up in the other two events, posting a couple of new school records in the process.

The U17 4x400m squad, comprising of Gregory Zoppos, Seon Shaw, Tom White , Joseph Schull and James Grindle, won the 4x400m Chris Brasher Trophy in a superb time of 3.34:1s. Not to be outshone by the U17’s squad, our Under 20’s 4x400m relay team of Jan Bauer, Will Palmer, Philip Kastner and Harry Grindle won the Open 4x400m Jack Lovelock Trophy in a brilliant time of 3:25.8s.

In the U17 4x200m Final, Gregory Zoppos, Tom White, Yonni Kobrin and James Grindle came second in a school record-breaking time of 1:34.9s. Seon Shaw was also in the squad and ran a superb leg in the qualifying heat. In the U15 4x800m final, Sasha Gorin Delmas, Tom Street, Alex Pama and Max Bishop all ran fantastically to finish runners-up in a new school record time of 9:17.7s.

All the boys involved made it a very proud day for the St Paul’s Athletics Club and are a credit to the school.
