Success in the Weizmann Safe Cracking UK Competition

On Sunday 2 February, a team of five Lower Eighth pupils participated in the UK round of the annual Safe Cracking Physics and Engineering competition, held at Dulwich College, for which they had designed and built a table-top puzzle based on principles of Physics.

The team ‘Now You See Me’ – comprising Alex, Teymour, Samuel, Artem and Xuanlin – placed 2nd overall in the UK out of 21 entrants. This is the highest score an SPS team has achieved in the national round since 2019. Safe cracking skills, peer rating, puzzle difficulty, design, physics knowledge, build quality and presentation were all judging criteria.

They have qualified along with the top three teams for the international competition, which will be held online this April.
