The Classical Association London Greek and Latin Reading Competition

SPS pupils travelled to Westminster School last week to compete in this prestigious event and achieved some terrific results.

Shyam Janarthanan (Sixth Form) won bronze in the pre-GCSE Latin category for his excellent recital of a passage of Virgil’s Aeneid and Tolga Mardin (Lower Eighth) took gold in the open Latin category for a superb and dramatic rendition of a poem by Horace.

The Greek chorus of  Aiden Ahmad, Rayaan Ahmad, David Chong, Orpheus Graham Maw, Owais Khalil, Rafael Modiano, Finn Ng, Vivaan Sharma, Vayun Singh, Yichen Yao (all Fifth Form)  and Freddie Hammond Giles (Lower Eighth), were awarded gold for an incredible performance of a passage from Euripides’ Medea. Congratulations to all members of the team.
