Congratulations to Tolga Mardin (Lower Eighth) on being named the winner of the musical composition section of the Viita Prize for his work, The Birds – A Jazz Musical, based on a free adaptation of Aristophanes’ play.

She highlighted the remarkable feat of adapting an ancient Greek play, writing both the lyrics and music, and commended him for this impressive achievement. The piece showcases a deep understanding of a wide range of instruments and voices, with strong character, and a meticulously presented and annotated score.
