Rugby Sevens Team win two tournaments at the start of the season

St Paul’s 1st VII Squad have enjoyed a flying start to their season.

They began by making a clean sweep of wins against all five teams in the round robin group at Tonbridge Pre-Season Sevens.

SPS v Tonbridge won 27-12

SPS v Ipswich won 15-7

SPS v Hurst won 34-7

SPS v Worth won 38-7

SPS v Bedford won 26-21

This is an excellent set of results for the Pauline players and bodes well for a successful season of rugby sevens ahead. Sadly, the day was marred by Marco sustaining a season ending injury and we wish him all the very best with his rehabilitation back to full fitness.

Then, on Wednesday 8 February, the team also won the Haberdashers’ U18 Sevens Tournament.

The SPS players won all of their games in the group stages and progressed through to the final to play Stowe Schoo,l having only conceded four tries throughout the afternoon. It was a strongly contested final between two good sevens teams but we proved to be too strong in every aspect of the game and won convincingly in the end by 26-12.

The team have now played 10 games of sevens within a few days and have won all of them!
