On Saturday 22 March, the SPS team of Jake (Sixth Form), Ari (Fifth Form), Leo (Fourth Form) and Kevin (Fourth Form) contested the national finals of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition at Cardiff University.
The team finished fifth of 28 teams in the national finals, having won the Downland regional heat back in November. Working as a team, they had to complete two theory papers and then set up a blue bottle reaction with a defined period of oscillation, with points being awarded for accuracy.
