Upper Eighth students make Rackets History

Upper Eighth students Oliver and George made National, and internal School Rackets history, when as 2nd seeds, they won the 1st pairs Championship, conceding just one game throughout the entire event.

This outstanding achievement by Oliver and George at the Queen’s Club also cemented the prestigious title of being the first Pauline pair to win any National Schools Rackets Doubles trophy at the senior level in their (relatively) short history of competitive Rackets since opening in 2000. However, many junior pairs have had much success throughout this time.

Oliver, a past winner of the National School Rackets U16 singles Championship in December 2019, was cruelly denied the opportunity to win the U16 Doubles with his long-standing partner, George Livesey, the following March due to Covid. However, this win adequately makes up for the lost last couple of years. They performed magnificently during their highly focused, disciplined and aggressive 3-0 victory over Radley College 15/12, 15/10, and 15/6, ending Eton’s six-year dominance of the 1st Pairs Championships.
