House Final – 8 October
On Wednesday, in a shortened version of the game, Warner beat Stewart 14-12 in a tightly contested senior House basketball final. The match was more offensive- than defensive-driven and a true spectacle to watch.
Cross-Country
King’s Trophy, Wimbledon – 1 October
Well done to all SPS runners who competed in the first fixture of the season on Wimbledon Common. The deceptively tough 7 km course featured several short, sharp hills and the challenging “toast rack” climb. Special congratulations go to our younger runners, as the King’s Trophy is a combined competition spanning from Fourth Form to Upper Eighth. The team of seven finished 6th in the Boys event out of 11 schools, a strong start to the season with more than half the team representing the school for the first time.

Swift Foursomes, SPS vs Westminster – 25 September
The SPS team of six faced a strong Westminster side, requiring some tactical decision-making in the pairings. Shiv Ahluwalia and Kevin Lu led as the first pair, followed by Armaan Bhatia and Captain William Wu as the second pair, with Nick Behroun and Kaiser Riemann completing the lineup as the third pair.
The first pair lost 5 down with 4 to play in a very tough match-up, but the second pair responded superbly, winning 4 up with 3 to play and dropping only one hole in the entire match. The third pair knew their match would decide the overall result. Standing 1 up on the 15th tee, they held their nerve and reached the 17th with two putts for victory from 10 feet. Kaiser left the first just short, and Nick calmly tapped in to secure the win, finishing 2 up with 1 to play.
The 2–1 victory means SPS remains undefeated in the Swifts Foursomes.

SPS vs Harrow – 2 October
It was a comprehensive victory last week for the SPS teams, winning five of their six matches. The scorelines make very pleasing reading: Won 3–1, Lost 2–3, Won 3–0, Won 3–0, Won 3–0, Won 3–2.
Rugby
SPS V RGS Guildford – 4 October
Congratulations to all SPS Rugby teams on a superb block fixture against RGS Guildford, with all four A teams recording wins and the Club finishing with an impressive overall tally of nine victories to two.
Home Fixtures
The 1st XV faced a testing afternoon on Big Side in blustery conditions as both sides adjusted to the strong winds. At half-time, the score stood at 5–7 to RGS, but SPS regrouped well to take a 15–7 lead in the second half. Despite RGS narrowing the margin to just three points with four minutes remaining, SPS held firm to secure a well-deserved 15–12 win.
The 2nd XV endured a tough 0–28 defeat, but with several players due back from injury next week, they will look to bounce back strongly against Gordon’s School before half term. The U15A team extended their winning run after last week’s victory over Berkhamsted, while the U15C also impressed with a 19–12 win. The U15B were narrowly beaten 5–10 in a tightly contested game.
Away Fixtures
Away from home, both the U14 and U16 squads enjoyed clean sweeps across their year groups. The U14D team produced a dominant 50–0 performance, while the remaining U14 fixtures were closely fought, with the A game decided in a thrilling finish. The U16s maintained their strong form, with convincing wins for both the A and B teams, 39–17 and 31–5 respectively.

National County Team Championships – 4 – 5 October
Well done to Cillian Bramham (Upper Eighth) who co-captained the Middlesex County team to a 6th-place finish at the National County Team Championships, competing against 20 county teams. This marked Middlesex’s best performance in several years.
