This year’s Parsons Lectures will take place in the Wathen Hall on Tuesday 11 February 2020.
This year’s speaker is Jack Green, an Olympian who competed at London 2012 in the 400m. Jack was diagnosed with depression in 2012 and announced in 2013 that he was taking a break from elite sport to give himself time to properly recover, leaving the British Athletics high performance funding program to do so. In 2014 he returned to elite sport and succeeded in making the GB squad for the 2016 Olympics. He went on to win a Bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships. Since retiring, Jack has spent much of his time advocating for greater awareness around mental health issues.
The Parsons Lectures are dedicated to the memory of Harry Parsons (OP 2005-2010) who passed away in 2013. St Paul’s School and the Parsons family began these annual lectures to promote wellbeing and tackle mental health stigma with our pupils and wider community.
