Over the course of the last eight months, Carter Cortazzi, Nico Hedegaard, Oliver Hirsch and Joe Millard, all Year 13 (Upper Eighth) historians, together with Archie Foster (who finished at St Paul’s this summer), explored the wartime editions of The Pauline.
In their impressive and moving research (pdf), they set out their findings under a number of headings, including:
- Notable Paulines
- Letters from the front
- Pauline poets
- Roll of honour
In his foreword, Dan Snow, OP, says: “Congratulations to the fantastic Pauline historians that put this document together. To read it is to be taken on a whirlwind tour of the First World War and the people who were caught up in it. It is a very fine piece of scholarship.”
A special Act of Remembrance involving the whole school will take place on 11 November to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
