St Paul’s Juniors / Sport

In Lower and Upper First Years the boys receive two Games sessions each week and from Lower Second to Upper Third Years they have two afternoons of Games. With our large intake, we are able to provide a coaching and playing environment in which boys learn and compete alongside other boys of a similar ability.

St Paul's Juniors adheres to a Sport For All philosophy and with over 200 rugby, 150 football and 140 cricket fixtures each year, there is competitive sport available to boys of all abilities. The number of fixtures within a season increases as the boys move through the School, with a strong focus in the lower years on teaching and coaching the basic skills needed for each sport.

There are tennis squads in the Lower Second Year (Year 5) and above and swimming squads in every year group. In the Upper Second and Lower Third Years (Years 6 and 7) there are teams for rugby sevens, athletics and cross-country. Boys can also represent the School at badminton, water polo and fencing.

St Paul's Juniors teams are very successful on the strongest sporting circuits in the London area but we place equal value and emphasis on teaching boys who play in lower teams. We adjust our teams regularly in block fixtures with smaller schools in order to maximise the number of boys taking part and to ensure that these fixtures are evenly matched.
