Learning Support at St Paul’s Juniors offers support to pupils with a broad range of barriers to learning.

Learning Support at St Paul’s Juniors offers support to pupils with a broad range of barriers to learning.

Pupils from all age ranges across the School are offered support.

After liaison with their teachers and appropriate assessments and screening have been carried out, pupils are allocated time within the department. They follow a structured scheme tailored specifically to their needs. Some pupils come to the department in small groups, some for 1:1 lessons. As well as help with reading and spelling, we support the development of comprehension, study skills, exam preparation and organisation.

The continuity of support offered to pupils throughout their time at St Paul’s Juniors enables us to know them as individuals and develop a full understanding of their difficulties and potential. We work closely with St Paul’s School, and pupils who have learning support needs transfer easily between the two schools.

The department has an open-door policy for pupils and parents with any concerns. We also maintain close links with a wide spectrum of outside specialist practitioners and use their guidance to inform teaching.
