Entry to St Paul’s Juniors is selective: our assessment process is designed to identify boys who have a natural flair for learning and who will thrive on our education.
St Paul’s Juniors is currently being rebuilt, and with this exciting development comes the opportunity to consider the optimum structure of SPJ. Should all progress according to plan, we shall be moving into our new home in the academic year 2025-2026. With this in mind, we have taken the decision to move towards 7+ and 11+ being the two main entry points for St Paul’s Juniors, and to end the 8+ entry point from September 2027.
The final intake at Year 4 will be those working towards 8+ in 2026. Registration for this entry will close on Friday 26 September 2025, with the assessment taking place in January 2026.
Going forward, the school will be able to offer approximately 72 places at 7+ and 36 places at 11+.
7+ Entry
Boys may be registered for St Paul’s Juniors from the February when they are in Year One. We admit approximately 50 boys at the 7+ entry point from a wide range of state and independent schools in and around London. 7+ pupils enter our Lower First Year, a year that acts as a period of settling in and adjusting to life in a large, fast moving junior school. The timetable allows the boys to spend most of their time in their own form room, ensuring a sense of routine and stability.
8+ Entry
Boys entering St Paul’s Juniors at 8+ join the Upper First Year. They quickly get to know their classmates who started at St Paul’s Juniors the year before and together they create a year group of four forms based in the main school building. Boys continue to spend the majority of their time with their form teachers, but by the end of the Upper First they are ready for the transition to the ‘senior school’ style of learning in the Second Year and beyond.
Boys may be registered for St Paul’s Juniors from the February when they are in Year Two. For entry at 8+, a boy’s eighth birthday must fall on or before 31 August in his year of entry.
The application process for 7+ and 8+ entry in 2026 is now open.
